What the story does not say is that he switched to Nikon! What else could
justify, like Donald said, to do it with the mirror down!
I think Nikon's are dishwasher proof but I have never tried it.
He forgot to tell us how warm to make the water.
What I wonder is who would be willing to give up $2500 in equipment to make an amusing youtube video.
That SO reminds me of the time one of my friends stowed her camera bag and all in the bait well of a fishing guides boat. It was dry when they got into the boat but once they came to the first buoy to catch bait the guide asked what was floating in his bait well. ...the horror...the horror...
My D700 went swimming in the ocean once. I was setting up a shot with a tripod in the water when I accidentally tripped on a tree root and the camera went for a swim. Got back to the hotel room and I essentially cleaned my camera by submerging it in the bathtub. Now I didn't use soap or blast it down with a hose, but after the bath, bought some rice and threw the camera in the rice bag and waited two days. The camera worked, and two years later, I'm still using it.
Now that being said, I would never recommend washing a camera unless something like a salt bath occurred prior. I figured my camera was not long for this world and what was more water really going to do?
Nikon cameras are sturdy...but the cleaning part of that funny video just goes to show stupid is as stupid does.
That remind me the time I tried to clean some oil deposit inside a lens front element with good old dishwasher and hot water ( good thing it was a cheap lens ). Some peoples only learn through laughable mistakes...
So it will work on my Nikon as well?
Do i need to take the battery out first?
Can i use a power washer instead of a hose if i lock the mirror up first.... Guess that answers the question about the battery.... or do i lock the mirror and wedge it with a match stick and then remove the battery? i dont want to ruin the battery.....
Mark you are not allowed to use a power washer but you are allowed to use gasoline and the match stick, just light it up and throw it on your camera too...Poop! all gone! and before you do all these things, since you seem to be more worried about your battery than you camera, so you can get your battery out first...anyway, it is not the camera that matters but the photographer, eh? Follow the dumb thinking? At least you save your battery....try taking a picture with that...
you need a camera to take a picture?? bugger! knew there was something missing from my work flowAt least you save your battery....try taking a picture with that...
