SD to CF card adapters
I did try a search but couldn't find anything about these on the Forum.
I have just acquired a new to me Canon EOS 40D which I am finding just great. It does however use CF Memory Cards and I already have a fair number of high sized SD cards for the other cameras. I have seen there are adapters which will effectively convert the SD cards to CF, however, some of them are said to be 5mm think.
My question is in 2 parts really:-
1. Has anyone used them and are they any good?
2. Has anyone fitted a 5mm one into a Canon EOS 40D?
I don't do loads of High Speed drive shooting so a reduction in saving speed in the camera isn't that important - I can always pop in a high speed CF for that.

Re: SD to CF card adapters
The adapters I've seen are CFII format which are thicker than CFI format. Not sure which one the Canon uses. I've also pondered going this route, particularly since Nikon has the annoying habit of putting dual slots in their cameras but one of each format For the minimal price of the adapter I should just give it a try I suppose.

Re: SD to CF card adapters
Hey Keith,
In any case, I would not recommend an adaptor! I understand that it would
save you money but the addition of extra contacts in the chain could increase
the chances for faulty ones… and you know that the devil never sleeps!
Over the last years, the price for these flash card dropped quite a bit…

Re: SD to CF card adapters
The 40D will take type I or II cards and I have a couple of those which actually measure 4mm as near as I can judge.
I think KodiaK has probably hit the nail on the head. Mind you it wasn't really money which was making me ask it is that I do have plenty of SD cards and it seems a good idea to make them universal.
