Re: Machinery
Quite a selection, interesting series Mike.
I can understand how you enjoyed taking this series, I could spend ages photographing old machinery but perhaps that's because of the engineer in me.

Re: Machinery
Love these, there's something very therapeutic about viewing these both in a museum, real life and in the image - whilst being machines there is creativity there I feel.

Re: Machinery
Thanks, everyone!
The really interesting thing for me is that with the exception of Photo 4, I had no idea what I was photographing. As an example, I know the last photo is of a gear but I have no idea what the machine is used for. I know absolutely nothing about the equipment that is in the other three photos. Instead, I was photographing shapes, colors and the like.

Re: Machinery
A curious collection Mike. The first one I like because of the clever association with horse power - the engine and then the horseshoes in the BG. This was of course deliberate on your part. The third one puzzles me. What the hell is it? The last one intrigues me. I have never seen a drive chain of that design before. Makes you wonder why it is so different from the usual. Was it very old?

Re: Machinery
Mike - nice series. I love getting a chance to poke around machine shops, old factories, garages, etc. just to take pictures like these. The smell of oil and gasoline seems to be wafting out of those shots. Nicely done!
As Grahame says "because of the engineer in me".

Re: Machinery
Thank you to John and Manfred.
Sorry, John, but I don't know the answer to any of your questions. I didn't make the connection between the horseshoes and the horsepower, so I didn't take it into account when I composed the photo.

Re: Machinery
Hi Mike,
I'm not fan of machines but I can appreciate how beautifully photographed these are!
I especially like #3 for all the details/tone... #4 for the light and shadows (I can see in every corner), and #5 for the beautiful colour.
