More wilds of Yorkshire with Teesdale too

There aren't many places in England where you can go and see wild landscape by which I mean, with not a house/building in sight - Bishopdale and Teesdale are exceptions. Here are a couple where I have tried to capture that wild spirit. Thoughts for improvement welcomed, in particular, I wonder whether the first does not have enough interest ?

And the last of my Northern shots, one of Malhamdale, if only because I cycled along all of the road you can see. I am looking back whence I came and yes I did have to get off and walk some of it before you think I am that fit ! I have many tried times to capture the essence of a path/road and never been successful - this I am sort of pleased with and wonder whether it gives you a sense of journey as it does to me ?

Another great set Kaye, well done. Not just for your photography skills but also your cycling.
The third image is my favourite of the three. I find the first interesting as when I look at scenes like that I wonder about the history associated with the place, I suspect in this instance that there has been some form of mining (lead mining?) going on.
Your river image has good composition I like it especially the reflections in the river.

Lovely area Kay and you have captured one of its faces very well. In bad weather it is totally different but just as interesting.

Thank you all for your comments. Peter and John, you probably know better than me what the weather can be like in that part of England, suffice to say we had two weeks of glorious sunshine ideal for walking and cycling, unlike two years' ago !

I find the first one interesting with the different textures & colors! The second one is very serene and calming. The third is my favorite! The road takes your eye further into the image to explore it. The texture of the rock wall balances very well with the smooth sweeping green hills! Absolutely stunning!

Go into Malham and take a right towards Goredale Scar, keep on going and going and going, then look behind you..................... It's a dead end road if you're in a car, but my two wheels allowed me to go further and back into Grassington along ancient byways, at least that bit was downhill !

I like what you were doing with the road. Maybe including just a little more of the road closer to the viewer would make them feel like they were on it more? Just an idea, not sure if it would help.

And thanks too Nick. I am interested by your comment as I understand your sentiment. The trouble I have with these photos is that some times (most times) I end up with too much road. Thoughts on how you avoid that welcomed.

Yes...#1 definitely has appeal...if there was a way one can just sit down here and contemplate a belly button (thankful to the Creation for giving you a view like this) it will be nice. The purples and the greens are beautiful too...but I love #3 better for the composition and appeal to the senses. While the first one entices you to sit, stay calm and just admire the beauty of the surrounding, #3 invites you to bike or walk (whichever one you want to use) because of the road that seems to be sloping down. If that is a pure grassed area I would have done what my dog (when they were little and I try to train them with a leash first time) did -- I'd hopped and skipped and roll down instead of use my legs!

Thanks Izzie - Your sentiments are wonderful and I am glad the images conveyed that too you - they did very similar to me too, you could hear the silence around you in the first (until two RAF jets flew over on a practise sortie!!).

I think that is something that no-one can teach, but which you can/will learn. It's about what feels right. It's that tantalising aesthetic quality and when you hit the sweet spot (as with a golf club hitting a ball), you know you've got it just right. In terms of photographic composition, I think you 'see' the sweet spot as a result of experience, practice, experience, practice ..............!

Thank you for giving me excuse (as if I need one) to get behind the lens again. And also the encouragement that things do 'click' - I know that really but sometimes you just need the gentle reminder,
