    Harbour Seal

SS 1/800 to 1/1250 f/8 ISO 1600 (low light) Focal Length 500 mm

I photographed this seal, perhaps the same one last year. She is very curious and often times comes closer to me, albeit getting her to look into the viewfinder is a challenge. I was able to get extra close because of the super moon high tide.

Added borders in response to feedback I've received.

Just sharing these for your viewing pleasure. They nurse their pups for 4-6 weeks.

Excellent set Christina. The first three are just on the nail. The lighting is beautiful. The lighting in the remainder was more challenging but still very nice images.

Thank you to all! Truly appreciated.

Mike, I don't know if you remember the seal that you liked last year but #3 is for you.

And yes, the lighting was not great for the Mom & Pup but hopefully another day.

    Hi Christina,

Great series but I'm afraid for me No 4 has something special about it

The first set is excellent, Christina. Technically well executed and far surpass any in water shots I have of harbor seals. The mom/pup shots are simply adorable. The last one is a very tender moment. You did good.

    Re: Harbour Seal

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments. Truly appreciated.

Dan, that is very sweet of you to say. Kim, it is very peaceful during the early morning hours. I will try to find the Mom and pup again.

    Thank you!

PS I've decided that I don't care for the borders, maybe black is just the wrong colour choice.

    Re: Harbour Seal

I was able to get extra close because of the super moon high tide.
Great photos. Their eyes are odd looking. I had not connected the high tide (on the great lakes) with the super moon!

    Re: Harbour Seal

    Thank you Kaye & Nick!

    Kaye...

I think I like #3 the best. I appreciate you letting me know your favourites. It is helpful for me to learn what other like as I'm not always objective about my own images.

    Nick...

I don't think the full moon/super moon effects the tides on the lakes as much, perhaps it does on the great lakes. I always check the tides because the birds are closer to shore. These were photographed on the ocean, some from a small beach and some from a dock... The tide was super high and it made a difference in how close they were.
