Very nicely done. On my very small laptop, the detail in the face looks a bit better in the second, and it is a more interesting pose.
The proboscis has a flat surface, almost like a suction cup, at the end. Bottle flies have the same. Very efficient.

Another good one, David...I like them both. In #1 it still shows the bubble and the second one I think he is working hard at it whatever he is doing. Good angles on both poses. I like #1 for more alien-ic shape between the eyes... Big thanks for indulging my extra curricular activities of looking at your shots....
