Old wooden pier at sunset/ B&W for Christina

I have been too busy to shoot anything this week , so I edited and converted one of my old images to B&W as I promised Christina before. This is actually a trial for me to see how it works because the color doesn't work very nice.

    C&C are appreciated as always

For me Binnur, the silhouette is too blocked out. I think it need some detail in there - not a lot but some.

    Hi Binnur,

I'm honoured to have such a beautiful image dedicated to me. I absolutely adore the composition and the light/sun in the sky/mountains framing the scene. A little more detail in the silhouette would be my personal preference, likely for a lighter mood.

Lovely image of a beautiful scene Binnur, but like the others, would like to see the shadows lifted a tad

Thank you John2, Christina, John, Mark and David for the kind comments. I'm glad that you liked the image. Here is an edit for members who would like to see a lighter version . I also modified the heavy border.

The second one works much better for me. The overall mood seems to be ominous to me for reasons I can't clarify in my own mind. It's almost as if I expect this to be a moonrise rather than anything having to do with the sun. Not sure why.

Hi Mike May be it is because the image is in B&W and that's why you expect a moonrise over the sea and the land. I haven't tried B&W sunsets before but I'm thinking of trying some more to see how they work.

I really like the second version much better! Even just lightening the heavy border lifted the "doom & gloom" appearance of it!

I like the shadow details of the second version and the tone of the water and the sky on the first version.
