Lovely capture Irene, the colours are beautiful!
I like it very much too Irene
Irene what a beautiful shot this is...!!!
I looked at this for a while and whilst liking what I saw, felt there was something not just clicking into place. I thought it was the horizon line of the mountain and moved the image around in the Lightbox, but that didn't solve my question. The it dawned on me what my niggle was. It is the position of that glorious maple in the frame. Is it too centred?
So (And I hope you don't mind me illustrating what I felt, Irene. Please say if you do and I'll remove it), I cropped it to a 5:4 image. Does that give it a better balance? I'm sure opinion will be divided.
IMO the crop works super
Thank you Donald. I do appreciate your scrutinizing eye. Of the numerous shots I took of those clouds, I narrowed it down to two favourites. Note that #2 is captured very similar to the way you cropped # 1. ( cloud formation and mountain tops are different as is position of the maple.)
Your comment on this one would be appreciated.
Irene
For me, if the tree on the extreme left had been lighter in tone (or you could lighten it) and just like those at the extreme right-hand side, that would absolutely be the image. You've got the wider vista, that beautiful maple is in just the right place, I think, but things get a bit dark and drab right over at the left-hand side.
Thank you once again. I do see what you mean now that you've pointed it out.

I couldn't get over excited by the original image but Donald's version has a lot more impact.
Although as another alternative. Crop the bottom to remove around half of the tree height and concentrate mostly on the sky.
Geoff -thank you for your suggestion. This image has turned out to be
a valuable learning exercise for me.

The cloud formation is very interesting, both versions work nicely for different reasons.
