    two views of a zinnia

Here are two stacked shots of a zinnia last night. Not entirely satisfactory, in my view. I have had problems in the past with digital images of intensely red flowers, in that it is easy to blow out the reds, and they can look blown out even when they are not. So, I was very careful not to overexpose the reds:

I also took other precautions--e.g., I increased contrast in a luminance-only adjustment layer, and I actually pulled down the reds in one of them. Still, I am not sure it was enough.

    anyway, C&C welcome, as always.

Yes, indeed very lovely captures. The reds look beautifully exposed. I'm kind of mesmerized by the 2nd image because I can see all the little fine hairs(?) standing up on the petals.

It's very nice that you are finally sharing some of your images for others to see and learn from. Thank you.

Thanks, all. Christina--I like to post here, and I often get useful comments and criticisms here. I just haven't produced much lately that I thought was worth posting. I'm shooting more now, so I hope to post more.
