weird and frustrating LR problem
I just encountered a problem I have never before encountered in Lightroom. If anyone has a suggestion, I would be eager to hear.
First, both my Lightroom and my Photoshop CC are the most recent version.
Here is the workflow that caused the problem:
1. images very slightly edited in LR--white balance, and for one set, a minor exposure adjustment.
2. Exported as 16 bit TIFFs
3. Stacked in Zerene
4. Reimported into LR as 16-bit TIFFS
5. Edited slightly in LR--I think only an exposure adjustment in the case of the image that had a problem
6. Move to photoshop using the Edit-In command in LR
7. Only two adjustments in PS: a curves adjustment (luminance blending mode) and smart sharpening.
8. Saved as both PSD and TIFF, layers left, maximize compatibility on. I originally did PSD, but I went back and saved as TIFF to see if that was the problem. It wasn't.
9. Reimported into LR.
None of this is novel for me. I have been doing this stuff with minor modifications for years.
Now, I looked at the images from step 9 in library mode. they were completely fine. Then I switched to the develop module. Immediately, the image showed a blue halo, and a previously completely black background showed blue speckles:
I switched back to the library module, and the images were fine, as they were in PS.
Finally, I exported a jpeg to the hard drive, and it looked OK.
So, as far as I can tell so far, this is a problem displaying in the LR develop module images that have been edited in PS and that are saved with layers in maximize compatibility mode. I don't know what other display errors have been introduced other than the one I noticed, so I reluctant to edit from that view.
Anyone else experience anything like this?
Thanks

Re: weird and frustrating LR problem
You have the left arrow on the Histogram switched to highlight (in blue) any areas that are clipping and going solid black. Click the arrow again to turn it off.

Wow, that was a dumb oversight on my part. I normally look at that. Many thanks.
