Tiny sweat bee on a tuberous begonia

Today my wife pointed out that we had some brilliantly colored tuberous begonias in bloom, and when I went to look, I found what may be the smallest sweat bee I have ever noticed. In his curled up position, I would guess he was about 3 mm long, perhaps less. I had a macro setup sitting ready, so I grabbed it and took a few shots. Unfortunately, it was so small that even what I had ready -- a 100mm lens with a 36 mm tube --wasn't as much magnification as I would want, but to add tubes means readjusting the flash bracket, and it would have taken too long. Both are about 20% crops horizontally. C&C welcome, as always.

Hi Dan: I love the colours in these shots. They really pop! I had no idea that there was such a tiny bee species. You do learn the most interesting things in these forums.

Dan...still they are both excellent shots. You got something there very rare to most of us here in the forum. If you have gone in to add to your tubes, it would have flown away...I like #1...and your wife's healthy begonias...

That sure is pretty good for such a tiny bee Dan. Spot on focus on the eyes.

Nice effort on the bee, the flowers overshadow the bee somewhat with their brilliance.
