    Hi Tom I like the composition very much. Toning down the BG might improve the image.

    I like it when the body is in focus, but the wings are blurred. It shows motion. Very nice.

    hmm daring to be different, and just my personal view, if you tone down the background like that the foreground stands out but looks artificial to me, with the original background the overall balance is better i think

    Thanks. That was my feeling as well, but I fully understand that a darker background might well make the photo more appealing to some and was happy to produce such a version as well as one that fit my taste.

    The darker background gives the photo more depth for me.

    Hi Tom I actually like both of them, but if I had to choose I would prefer #2 because I like strong colors. If you darkened the image with 'layers' I would brush out the dark part on the left corner selectively may be with %50 opacity, because it looks a bit too dark.
