Reminds me of a trip to Brisbane - in the morning the locals were talking about how cold it was last night and how some had to get up and put an extra blanket on the bed ... and there was me lying on top of the bed the whole night tossing and turning whilst reciting "gawd this is hot!"
People who have been there have told me that NZ is the most beautiful place on Earth. Your superb photos of The Remarkables confirm that.
Great series Dave but #2 really stand out for me. I only dream of visiting NZ and Australia now but maybe someday...keep the photos coming![]()
This is the first time I'm getting a chance to look at these properly on my own monitor. As everyone else has suggested, they are real belters - every one of them. I can't help but think that the tourist authority would love this one. It surely captures the very essence of the place; i.e. it says it all. A magnificent image.
The only thing I'd raise is that little rocky outcrop cutting the edge of the frame on the left-hand side. Is it a distraction? If so, would it be worth cropping a tiny amount left and top (to keep the aspect ratio) to get rid of it?
England is a lovely country but I would not place it first...![]()
AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! !
I assume this is in response to my post above. Can I point out THAT SCOTLAND IS NOT ENGLAND.
We've spent 300 years battling this nonsense that Scotland is just a bit of England. We are a nation whose statehood was sold to a Union by a minority of vested interests in 1707. On 18th September this year, many of us are determined to claim it back.
Don't call us a bit of England.
ps - You live in a very beautiful part of Australia.

All stunning Dave, the air quality must surely assist the clarity that they show.
I was listening to talk-back radio one night (here in NZ!) and the announcer had an American travel agent on the phone. Announcer said he was calling from NZ, but the agent didn't know where that was -- until the announcer told him that it was "the capital of Australia"! Oh yeah - I've been there said the agent. Announcer said afterwards that he felt a bit guilty for saying that!
That was a cruel joke, Colin...it still made me laugh though...![]()
