    Something different...

Took this on a recent trip to HK.

It is a stitch of 7 HDR shots done up in Photoshop.

    Comments/suggestions welcomed.

For anyone so inclined the full version is downloadable from Dropbox

    Small version.

Full version - not sure how tinypic is going to take it.

Nicely done, I like the smaller version which "appears" to have more contrast; especially the side with the buoy.

Thanks John. Both are the same image, perhaps size?

Beautifully photographed... The detail, sharpness and clarity seen throughout the entire image is simply amazing.

Very nice work Bobo and no joins detected either The clouds look a wee bit bright to me but that's probably my monitor.

Very cool! The smaller image does look darker. It looks like an artist's rendering.

Great stitch BoBo of a subject that would show up any flaws immediately. It's a nicely selected skyline and the larger image views particularly well in Lightbox. To my eye though the sky highlights could be pulled back a bit (the detail is there) and there is an overall slight blue/cyan cast. De saturating these two channels will correct that fairly easily - if that is what you want to do.

Thanks John - for the pp tip. I did notice that but did not know how to correct it. I did a previous version where the clouds were much more ominous but went with the lighter version as it seemed more "balanced" that way. I will give it another try though.

By desaturation you mean the hue/saturation layer in ps ?
The other question would be by how much and this is where subjective comes in.

Thanks David. I appreciate your kind words.

Not perfect pic but one never is.

BUT that said, as a 36x12 print it did look pretty good.

    In turn
    - yes and don't go too far with the blue channel (there's a bit of blue sky in there). Watch the greys in the sky. You will see when they are neutral. If you haven't done it before, the channels are selectable in the drop down menu at the top of the Hue/Saturation dialogue box.
    - Totally subjective. Just pull the highlights back until they cease to cry for attention.
