(... the sound of violin strings beating out a sad dirge in a key of D minor... the cold wind of recession whistling down the street.. a lone figure huddled in a doorway uttering a (sotto voce) cry "dollars for the poor"... "dollars for the poor")

I'm only kidding Agata, don't take it to heart. How much do you need - we'll have a CiC collection?

Oh really? Oh you're so good! I need some $50,000 - you know, I need some lenses as well.. oh, and you can pay back my car - $20,000. Man I'm so glad there are so many good will people on photography forums, who understand other photographers in need!

You'll be able to build it up again when you sell lots of prints! (Seriously, why don't you pursue that avenue -- some of yours would be perfect canvas prints). Make you a deal - I'll print you a medium sized canvas (say 33" long) and post it to you - you pay to have it framed (which shouldn't cost a lot) - and see if you can sell it. We on?

Eh Colin, you made me feel so bad I ordered a monitor. I'm a poor girl now (will have to do photography for food I suppose), but I'm happy
If you could print some of my shots that would be awesome! Provided I pay you for the printing. You do professional printing, don't you? Just shipping from NZ can be more expensive than printing itself :/
I'm trying to look around now to find a good place to do prints close by - so I could walk there, see printed samples, different paper types, ask a million questions, try a small print and see how the whole process looks like, then order big prints. The whole idea of sending a file online, paying $50 and waiting for whatever they send me printed sounds scary to me, especially that it is my "first time" - you know, the first time is always exciting but stressful..

    Hi Agata,

Congratulations on the new purchase! Next item must be a colorimeter

Some days more professional than others

Seriously, I print almost exclusively onto canvas (only onto paper for quick proofs usually). I reckon you should start with a canvas; they're very "in" right now, and it's costs a LOT less to have them stretch mounted than it does to have them framed ... besides ... I'll do one for you for free, and pickup the tab on the postage ... so my treat, if you're interested?

Yes, I am now comparing, looking at them, reading reviews.. the reviews are very different, no clear leader. Therefore I don't know, if I should go for something cheap or the top brand.. does it really matter that much?

so my treat, if you're interested?
Sure! There's something convincing about you, Colin! Anyway thanks a million for all the help!

No worries. Do you want to send me the RAW file via sendthisfile.com then?
