Trees in the foreground spoil it (center and near right) and the roof on the building draw the eye but other than that id say its very good
As Mark said. Plus just a slight reduction in the HDR effect to make the HDR effect less obvious.
Thanks Mark! Yeah I wanted to include the lake in the image, but I agree the trees spoil it. The darn house across the lake was impossible to block, to get this cloud formation. I'll rework it, and see if I can fix these points.
Thanks also to you Bobo!
Pretty good and agree with Mark on the trees, bit of a painterly effect or surreal. Try downloading Oloneo trial version. I recently bought the HDR Pro version for my son and it works great though I also tried Oloneo which does an equally good job but was pricey.
Removing those items left little of the image. Thanks again to you both!
Thanks Haseeb! I really don't want to buy an HDR program, as I would use it very little. This was done with a free program called "Auto HDR". I can tune it finer, but again, the trees and the house do spoil the overall image. Just thought I'd give it a try!
I do appreciate the comments, as when one is looking at their own work, things are overlooked, that others notice. That's what's nice about this forum, a member has many sets of eyes to help get the best possible results!
Carol nice try on the HDR processing, it takes sometime to get the hang to get the exact look you want. Now for those trees and house, what if, (there is always a what if) you cropped the bottom off at a point just above the house. That will leave just the very top of the middle tree than clone or content aware it out, that leaves the right hand tree which makes a good anchor for the right, leaving a nice pan look to the shot. If you are using a program that will allow layers and masks, maybe add one to remove some of the saturation in the clouds so they appear more grey than the blue-grey they are now. Great cloud formation.

" if you want me to take it down let me know"
Not at all! I love seeing what you've done with a rather troubled image! I especially like how you've "dimmed" the house; it's hardly noticible in your image! It stood out like the "outhouse in the fog" saying! Also the removal of the tree in the center!
Thanks for the work you did on this, it's appreciated!
Your more than welcome, im sorry that my pp isnt quite up to it but i will get there and really i think it would be better were it cloned prior to HDR treatment, i think it would reduce the softness in the bits that have been cloned. i also couldnt figure out how to selectively sharpen in PS. back to the books.....
And Carol, it will alway be your image, you had the vision to take it.
I'm not sure what you used to apply the hdr type look but it's left a halo line around the hills and also mushed up the detail a little. If you used layers to do this I would leave out the blur stage.
I too feel there is too much of the effect as well and maybe too much saturation applied at some stage.
I had a play too as like Mark I also need the practice. It's a bit bigger so the halo is more obvious. Once some process produces them they can be hard to get rid of. Sometime a blur brush on the full sized image is the best bet,
It now looks like a painter has had a bad day to me.

In this last one, the sky looks too unnatural to me. The "black" between the clouds is distracting.
but nice job on the waterline, and leaving the rh tree in doesnt hurt!, ill have to have another go, at this rate ill be an expert in no time!
I do like leaving the tree on the right in the image!
How many images is it Carol?
Mark, it's just a single image.
what was the EV range you used? Can you please share histograms of each shot used for HDR?
