Some dogs are easier than others...

Chip and Dale are two Maltipoo puppies which we recently received. They were strays in a town near the Arizona border. A good Samaritan picked them up and called our rescue group. One of our volunteers drove the hundred or so miles to pick up these cute puppies...

Chip was easier to photograph than was Dale. Chip was very interested in my squeeker and looked directly at the camera with his ears perked up.





Dale was a bit frightened and would not look at the squeeker (camera) except for one shot. His bouffant hairstyle makes him look messy...





Whenever I shoot "formal" portraits of rescue dogs, my wife greatly assists by restraining the dog with a show lead which I clone out. Of course, the dogs who are used to leads are easier to photograph...

Naturally, however, I get my share of shots looking like this, which go into the trash bin except when I save one as an example...



Another good reason for having a selection of background colors is when I am photographing puppies from the same litter who are "cookie-cutter" in similar looks. The various color backgrounds help to identify the dogs...

I love #1 and #3, even though he was not looking into the camera! What beautiful, cute pups! I'm so glad they were rescued so that they can get forever homes filled with the love they deserve!
