Nice composition. I especially like the different colours in the shot, all held together by the green overtones.
Where I might have done this differently is that another one of those photographic "rules" suggests that the foreground needs to be sharp, while the middle ground and background can be softer. I think in this situation, I would stick with the rule, by either shooting with a wider DoF or focusing on the tomato at the front. That brilliant red, "in your face" tomato should be in focus, as that is what our eyes are led to.
I like this image, for its composition and impact, etc. The first thing that caught my attention was the sharpness of the hairy stalk. I quite like the glimpses of spider web too. A greater depth of field might be an improvement provided it does not spoil the nice background.
Thanks Daniel. I appreciate your comment.
Thanks, Manfred. I sort of noticed the same thing as I was post-processing this shot; that OOF red was really bugging me.
Thanks, Tony. This was my first time shooting with my coworker's 100mm f/2.8L macro lens and let's just say he wasn't kidding when he said it had a very shallow DOF! Something to keep in mind for next time...
I grow this cherry tomatoes every year and I never run out of supplies for my pot. Good composition but needs a bit of work on the focus as Manfred had suggested. Love the background too...the colours melding is excellent.
