    Back Yard Day Lily

This is a shot of a June Day Lily from my back yard that I took with a macro lens. I am thinking about entering it in competition for judging. What improvements should I make before I do. Any critiques are welcome, Thank You

Do you think a little more sharpness could help as long an it didn't make the smooth places grainy? I do like the color combination. Maybe a little more contrast?

Good exposure and I agree with all of the comments made by Nick. You could consider cropping a bit off the bottom but the main problem is the blue in the left background which needs to be cloned out or the colour changed to blend with the rest of the background.

    Hello there,

IMO, the only way to improve sensibly this take is to reshoot it in front of a
different background. I would not touch the subject… but its background.
