People like Terry always seem to overcome such relatively trivial obstacles.

    Oh for crying out loud!!!

I swear if I have to suffer through studio shots of you two modeling your quick-drying tighties I'm going to dig myself up and kill myself again!

I believe I can quickly dispel at least part of your thinking by mentioning the dinners each night in our rental apartment. They were made using spices and herbs brought from home and were of course perfectly paired with a different wine each evening. Our best meal of the trip was king crab legs sautéed in a light sauce of shallots, white wine and butter, a recipe passed along to me by my aunt, and paired with a Meursault.

I have a feeling your backpacking trip isn't going to offer such luxury. Another way of putting it is that though we may wear the same brand of underwear when traveling, I'm sure I'm more of a wimp.

I've heard heard of trips like yours, although I'll have to admit I've never taken one like that one. In some ways I'm jealous, but on the other hand, I've been able to visit some very remote parts of the world by forgoing good food and nice accomodations. Not that many people can say that they've been to a hotel that had an outhouse rather than a regular washroom or have had their tent guarded by a couple of Mursi warriors with AK47s....

I suspect (know actually) that the upcoming trip will mean I will have to rough it most of the time. Good food and drink will have to wait until we get home again. I expect that most of the contents of the backpack won't make it home...
