No Brian, the jumping one are smaller the a cm… as this one is just under 4cm.
Yours, with its colours, looks just as threatening! What size?

I don't know why, but I find spiders quite ugly close up, even though I find many insects interesting, and even beautiful. But I take some anyway. Here are a few, since we are on this topic:

Here is a "dock spider," a somewhat distant but harmless relative of a wolf spider. They are large, and like wolf spiders, they carry around their eggs in a web sack. Here is one carrying its eggs around my dock:



This one was in the bushes in our front yard one night:

admittedly most spiders have a look that only thei mother could love but they do have a certain appeal to me. getting the web like you did is impressive.

We have at least one species here that can and does catch small birds.
