Hi Rita,
Just to say that I like your edit, but prefer the colours/tones of the sky in Tony's edit. Beautiful image!
Thank you for starting this thread. Very informative.

Manfred, thank you for sharing your setup, very helpful.
Binnur - it is a large (full-frame) camera with a battery grip. It is sitting in the portrait position on a substantial tripod with a large ballhead. So yes, it is large; but it doesn't have to be this large. I was planning to do night panos with it, so I need something extremely sturdy so that I can get long exposures without any camera motion.
Thanks for the info about nodal point for panorama, Manfred...now I know why my banquet rooms looks stupid...but I scared to ask then. And thanks Rita for sharing this image...I will copy and paste the info in my drafts folder in my email so I can go back to it when I can find time ...
Binnur - Yes and no; it also depends a bit on your tripod. There are some very serious; large and expensive pano kits available.
I find you need at least two levels; one on your tripod to ensure that it is level, and then a second one on either your camera or on the tripod release plate to ensure it is level too.
The "L-plate" mounts to your camera's tripod mount and allows it to sit in "portrait" format so that you get a bit more height in your pano.
The fourth piece of equipment I use is the nodal plate that allows you to rotate the camera around the optical centre of your lens.
If your hands are steady enough, you can hand-hold a pano as well. I've tried this once and then went for the tripod; especially for low light work.
Generally the L-Bracket is camera specific. I have seen a few "generic" ones out there, but don't know anyone that uses one.
Mine is made by Kirk; and if you look at their web page, you'll notice a long list of choices that are camera model specific.
