Dizzying Monochrome
I've never made a photo like this one and I got dizzy making it. Please view at the largest size so you can also become dizzy.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
A view when lying on the floor after a few too many? No the camera is far too steady for that.
Took a while to get rid of the dizziness long enough to appreciate it fully. Striking shot.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
All it needs is Alfred Hitchcock's or maybe Vincent Price's face peering over the edge to advance the willies. Nicely captured.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
Thanks, everyone!
L. Paul: Yes, I was lying down. How did you know I captured this soon after completing two wine tastings and lunch that was accompanied by a glass of wine?
John: I would have settled for Orson Welles.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
There goes the vertigo, I have a problem with motion sickness and balance (bad tinnitus) and that shot really works for me for all the wrong reasons, still well captured though

Great shot - staircases can lead to wonderful shots, as you demonstrate here.
My wife still gets embarrased when I lie down to take shots like these as she mutters "I don't know him" to any passers by that see me.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
I'm dizzy but only because of the overwhelming beauty of this image.
I adore the perspective, all the crazy leading lines, and as always your use of light.

Thank you, everyone!
My wife can say anything she wants in these situations so long as she helps me up when I'm done.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
Nice perspective Mike. Upon viewing I was struck with a sense of music. The ornamentation on the railings resemble the Clef symbol, the stairs the keys of a piano and the circular motion the way a musical piece builds towards a crescendo, the cross bars...
At first I wanted to see more of the complete circle formed by the staircase but upon further contemplation I think that this is something that we 'know' is there and including it in the frame might actually take away some of the great tension created by the crop that you have chosen to show us.
Thank you!

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
Thanks, Shane, especially for explaining how you connect the image with music. Though I have a strong background in music, I would not have made that connection if you hadn't mentioned it.

Super image Mike I agree with Shane about music relation .Also the whole image looks like lower half of a treble clef.

Re: Dizzying Monochrome
This is just too cool Mike!
Puts me in mind of a Salvador Dali for some reason.
Also for some inexplicable reason it makes me want to have a glass of Absinthe and crank up some Pink Floyd!
