Nicely done, I think the backlighting helped subdue the volume of the green stems and lets the flower itself hold center stage.

Perhaps to take advantage of the translucent properties of the subject? Yes, that's all the reason you need. A really nice image, Chauncey.

Did you remove the blossom from the stem on the right or did it not grow?
