A pair of battle scarred elderly daffodils
It was a cool dull windy day in the garden without any interesting insects; so I started looking at the flowers.
But those perfect blooms just didn't do anything for me, then I saw this pair . . .
. . . and I thought these are the 'Darby & Joan' of the flower world. To my eyes, this angle gives some differences between them which makes them look like male and female.
Just a quick snap without much thought; but I like the result.
I wanted a dark somber background to let the blooms shine a little. Just cropped a little and a bit of sharpen. Then a duplicate layer with the blend mode set to Soft Light to help the saturation.
Merely a fun image. Not perfect and definitely not a prizewinner, but there is something about this tatty pair that appeals to me.
