    The Old Man of Storr

You have to look for the old man but he's just visible. This image is from June 2013 and I decided to revisit it from a PP perspective having seen Christina's thread on "haze-My Nemesis"
This image obviously hasn't haze but it is of a glorious June day on the Isle of Skye (runs for cover before Donald see this) the sun was really trying to cut through the cloud.
The area was in the process of deforestation, quite why they left the Birch standing I don't know but it did serve for a little foreground interest.

As always your thoughts/critique are most welcome.

    Hi Peter,

Absolutely beautiful! I love the composition for the tree, and the misty/cloudy sky and fading horizon...

Peter...I am still looking for the old man...nice image. The tree did incorporate itself very well here...and the foreground mists hides the old man very well too...and contributes to the mood of the scene.

With Donald lurking somewhere I am very reluctant to give you my thoughts/critique regarding the weather in Skye or Scotland....

However it is a moody setting and I feel would be even more moody by darkening down the sky particularly the light patches at the very top of the photo.

Right, I have stopped lurking in the shadows.

I think Peter maybe missed out to tell those who don't know that the Old Man of Storr (Bodach an Storr in the native Scots Gaelic language) is actually a rock pinnacle. Those searching the image for a human-being will be disappointed.

That weather looks fairly average for a June (summer) day, at that height, in Skye! We've got very sensitive skin up here on the north-west fringes of Europe and prefer clouds, rain and high winds (and I'm going to convert to Nikon!)

In terms of the image, if it was mine (which it obviously is not), I'd be thinking of a 1:1 (square) crop, leaving the left, top and bottom edges and cutting in from the right. And I'd be converting to B & W. You could do wonders with that sky in B & W and that tree is made for the B &W treatment.

I'd love to, but I'm going to be away for a week as from tomorrow and (hurrah) won't have access to a computer.

Then I shall have a try at your suggestions Donald and await your return before posting the edited version. Have a great trip good luck with the early morning lighthouse.

I am sorry, but my comment was sort of tongue-in-cheeks. I've been Scotland in '98 and been to the Isle of Skye and particularly went to Scotland to visit the MacRae Castle...and a few other places.

I confess: I was looking for some crazy old man roaming in the wilderness.

Good capture Peter, but I think Donald is spot on with his suggestion to convert to B&W

I have just had my first attempt at a B&W conversion of this image. Its not ready to be shown here yet.

But...in that processing I noticed that there is a person in this image! I can't say if it is an Old Man of Storr as the figure is too small to accurately determine the sex
Any one fancy seeing if they can spot the figure?

HHAHAHa...sorry you have to think of a better reward -- I am allergic to chocolates and I am a teetotaler. I will reward myself with a big chateaubriand for Sunday dinner -- yummmm...

Enjoy your Sunday dinner Izzie, with a non alcoholic drink of your choice. I shall enjoy my Sunday lunch which will be with Yorkshire Puddings, well it would be rude not toThe Old Man of Storr
Your reward shall have to be of your choosing, as I am a mere male, so whatever I could think of as a reward for you probably wouldn't be suitable. Unless of course you tell your better half that he needs to give you a kiss as a reward for spotting the figure The Old Man of Storr
