I love your shot Peter… but the title should be more like "Sunset Lavender!"
If really the cross was the main subject, the composition does not work
simply because my eye went first to the lavender, then to the sun and sky…
oh yes, there must be a cross… right, centre left.
As "Sunset Lavender!" this is a brilliant take.
One of these days I'm going to disagree with Kodiak, but not today!
A few steps to camera left may have proved beneficial.![]()
Peter, a very serene, beautiful image! I love how the light spills over the foreground, giving it a golden shade, while the purple remains purple! I think the cross adds to the serenity of the image!
May I ask who/what is "Ralph's Cross"?
Lovely shot, didn't realise Yorkshire was so nice... then again I have only been to Leeds.![]()

Rather than me giving you a brief explanation which may not do the old standing stone a disservice I have found this LINK which will make it all clear. You can then choose which piece of the folklore you like best![]()
Thanks everyone for taking time to look at the image and comment.
I thought you may like to see a little more detail of the cross. No heather (Lavender for Daniel [Kodiak]) in the foreground of this image, my photographers eye told me not to include the foreground road in this image. You can just see the road at the right hand side of the first image.
I certainly prefer #1![]()
