You did a great job on your technique as they are well done.

Re: Night In The City
The first one is most effective for me. It has the look you explained you were hoping to achieve. Consider cropping on the right to eliminate the leaves and at the bottom to eliminate the part of the building that is in the lower left area. Doing so makes the red sign even more prominent for me.

Re: Night In The City
Very good shots for first trial Andrew IMO the light and colors are very good in all of them. I like the angle in #1 and I loved #2. There are two white dots (?) on the wires between two buildings , I would clone them because they are a bit distracting.

#2 for me! I'm a sucker for night scenes with lights reflecting on water! Beautiful!

Re: Night In The City
All are very nice Andrew and a very good series considering it was your first attempt and just for fun
I really like the inclusion of the Barclay's sign and the neighboring glass rooftop in the last. My only suggestion here would have been to move your position slightly to the left so that that side of the sign was more visible.

Re: Night In The City
Here is a crop as per Mike's suggestion. I have mixed feelings about the resulting image though I agree the AAA sign becomes more prominent. I had considered cropping the leaves (they are a bother) initially but decided I liked the depth that the corner of the building gave the image.
Thank you Binnur for pointing out the reflections on the wires, I missed that.
Shane, I need to look at this location again. My initial feeling is that moving left would have flattened the depth of the image somewhat (if that makes sense). I feel that the angle I was shooting it from maintained a more pleasing relationship between the two buildings, I'll have another look and see how much of a movement it takes to get more of the sign.
Thank you for all the positive comments and the constructive criticism. The Wilmington water front is proving a great shooting ground. I'm finding it very useful to be able to go back and look at shots in a new way after discussing them here.

Hi Andrew,
Awesome shots for fun.
May you please post their exif so we can learn how you did it.
Thanks

Re: Night In The City
Hi Andrew, to me, the cropped version without the corner of the building and sloping roof at the bottom as per Mike's suggestion is simpler and increases the 'punch', making it a more compelling image.

Nice photos. I like #2, the color of the reflection in the water.

My vote goes to #2 without the wires and those two white dots Binnur mentioned. I too am a sucker for colourful night photos.
