    Denali (The High One)

Another shot from my trip to Alaska in August. This is a 3 shot HDR image taken of Denali from our hotel in Talkeetna. I was told only 10-30% of the people that travel to Alaska ever get to actually see the mountain. It is usually socked in by weather. Our Denali NP tour guide said he only saw the mountain a total of THREE times during the entire month of July. I felt really lucky to get to see the mountain not once but TWICE while I was there.

Odd weather-? Its a fine view when it shows. I think the lawn should perhaps go all across the bottom of the photo, or not almost, what do you think?

The only "odd" thing about the weather is that it was clear. It is usually cloudy/rainy. The mountain basically makes its own weather. WRT the grass along the bottom, there was a pretty steep drop off on the lawn and in order to get the entire thing across the bottom, it would've cut out more of the sky and added too much of the trees in the foreground. Basically, it would've made the photo more "unbalanced" IMO. I tend to like asymmetrical compositions. I'll try cropping out the lawn and see what it looks like. Thanks for the suggestion.

Very nice composition Brian I actually like the lawn at the bottom . I would crop the first thin white layer of the clouds from the top to put the emphasis more on the white mountains but I would leave the blue part of sky in the frame. IMO that thin layer of white clouds distracts a bit.
