Very nice comp and DOF Wayland. Is that a fixer-upper?
It certainly needs a bit of TLC I think.
Such a great scene and so expertly captured.
If you compare the very top of the light house and its reflection, you'll see that they aren't aligned because there is a slight tilt. There also seems to be some slight keystoning, which may be an artistic decision. Regardless, I would like to see just a bit more sky at the top to prevent the top of the lighthouse from being a little cramped.

Really awesome shot, I agree with Mike though, a bit more space at the top would be great.
Well spotted Mike. I had missed the tilt.
The camera was level and the horizon OK but I had failed to correct the perspective. (Corrected now.)
I'm sorry to say there is no more sky to offer you, I only had a couple of minutes to get the shot. The tides are deadly here, it's where the River Lune enters Morecambe Bay and in the course of this two minute exposure the water rose 6 inches up my boots.
Ten years ago 21 Cockle pickers were drowned in this bay because they were caught by this tide so I wasn't in going to hang around for alternative compositions I'm afraid.
Very nice shot, I love the colours in this.
Superb !!!
If you want to add more sky, it would be relatively easy to do because of the nature of the sky at the top of the frame. Expand the canvas size only at the top. Then clone the sky to add it to the additional canvas space.
I loved the image, although it looks very nice as a day time image, it would also be nice to shoot it at sunset

Gorgeous tonal palette of complementary colours!
Great use of foreground here Gary and I particularly like the way the mood of the sky matches that of the water.
Right on my doorstep Wayland and so I've seen many of this light. Strangely, never quite this viewpoint This is definitely one of the better comps. Very nice image. As to the tide, I have always gone there on a falling tide for the reasons you outline. One of the weirdest experiences I had was one evening as the sun was going down and I found myself all alone on the beach. It was eerie to say the least. Might have been the influence of the old priory behind me. Perhaps one or two ghosts are still hanging around.
It's odd because I work around the shore a lot but this is the first time I've actually been a bit frightened by the tide.
I had a clear safe line of retreat as always. Unusually I also had Debs with me as a lookout but the tide turning like that fair put the wind up me.
