    Central Australia, some old pictures

These pictures were taken some years ago with a 4MP camera and without the benefit of the tutelage of CiC.

    5. Lake Eyre. This is a vast inland lake which doesn't drain anywhere and sometimes has water in it. In this picture the water was a long way away.

    Hey Tony,

I am a nordic man down to the bones… I don't fancy the heat! The sight of the
aridity in these scenes alone makes me sweat. On the other hand, the rigorous
rendition of your work is quite refreshing!

Hmm, I don't think these were taken in my back yard. But they look like Australia. A pano worked well for #4.

Nice shots Tony. I like 1, 3 and 4 in particular.

One of these days I'll get to that part of the country !

Fascinating stuff and good captures. It looks what it is, arid.

Thanks, Daniel. We travelled in late July and early August on this trip. Heat was not a problem but the nights were cold, at least by our standards. You don't feel the sweat in dry weather. I once spent six months in Canada (London Ontario), arriving on news years eve. It was 4 deg F for the first month, 95 when we left. Much worse than here at both ends.

Nick, it is a way to come but worth the visit.

Dave, it is worth it but it takes time. We spent five weeks away and it should have been five months. I would like to go back and do some serious photography.

Good series Tony and shows what the low megapixel cameras could turn out.

With this scenery it would be difficult to put the camera down

    +1 to Grahame's comment...

Tony my vote goes to #1 for the shape and colours of the rock. It resembles a giant wave on the beaches just that this one is right in the middle of the island/continent. What a beautiful shot! The ochre mine will be interesting visit too...hot and humid over there...

Thanks Grahame, Izzie, John, vaez and Binnur.

I must confess that these pictures have benefited a little from photoshop but the colours are pretty much as they appeared in real life. It is often known as the red centre.

Izzie, it can be hot and humid but it is more often very dry. When we were there it was actually quite cool by Australian standards, especially at night.
