Excellent, Rudi. Nice detail, some color, and clean BG. What's not to like? Maybe a slight crop or bit of cloning to eliminate the dark corner at upper right. That's the only nit I can offer in the way of suggestions. Nicely done.
Nicely captured.
That's one of the best I have seen.

Very nicely captured I'd be more than pleased with that one.![]()
Superb composition....
Very nice shot, but would definitely crop out the top right corner.
Nice composition and colors![]()
Good detail in the eye and I like the level at which you have taken the shot. I try this too.
There is greenish tint to the halteres and the tibia seem rather slender, Rudi. So I would suspect this is a Melanstoma species male.
Some over exposure on the flower but this is often impossible to avoid. I've just spent too long touching in a similar problem and I think I probably wasted my time as the insect wasn't perfect anyway. But slightly uncommon, so I wanted some form of record.
Thanks all for comments and suggestions. Really appreciated.
A Melanstoma sp was also my estimated guess.
White flowers and bugs is asking for problems I guess, but a lot off white in the garden those days, not possible to ignore (for me at least). Keeper rate is even smaller than usual (so nearly nothing...). But its a good excercise.
