Having a picture on your profile does help that member gain more interest, perhaps, being more memorable, provided it is pleasant enough, and there's usually not an issue with that in the case of legitimate portraits
(It may sound a bit nonsensical, therefore, that I don't have one myself at present, -sorry)

"Pointless" does not mean that it cannot hold your interest. Does pointless mean that it can still be entertaining? Absolutely.Occasionally I get sucked into threads that are pointless, and a waste of time. It has just happened again.
