    Buster

This is Buster. Buster and I were a K9 Search and Rescue team in the Tetons and surrounding states for seven years. He literally saved lives, found people who died in the woods, drowning victims, and people who were buried in avalanches. He loved to fly in helicopters, and ride on snowmobiles and ATV’s. He could find a bullet casing is a grassy field or a drop of human blood in a pile of rocks. Many people benefited form his work. Our family benefited from his love. We will miss him terribly.

I'm very sorry for your loss Chuck. I have a 14,5 years old Golden and I don't even want to think about years in the future without him.

I often think that it's may be only dog-lovers who understand what the loss of a dog means to the person who has cared for and loved it for many years. Sometimes you feel that you shouldn't feel that way about an animal, but it surpasses the rational. Sorry, Chuck.

I said this before and I'll mention it again. The only thing wrong with dogs is that they don't live long enough. This is especially true with bigger dogs...

That may be true Donald. But I think it goes beyond a dog and a human.

I think it is about kindred Spirits.

My Heart is on the Ground Chuck.

    Great shots of your Kindred.

Terry, you are right. It is the loss of a best friend whose love is unconditional.

Chuck, I am sorry for your loss of your best friend and companion.

Search and Rescue is admirable. Dogs are amazing animals. Made to be both friends, and also helpers doing things we people just cannot do. Hope you continue to enjoy them.

I once had a dog (another rottweiler previous to Tucker) whom I had enrolled in SAR because he is really that good -- he died a week before his first class. He was 8 months old. Anyway, I too am sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss, Chuck. I can only imagine....and would rather not.
Most interesting, dogs are the only animal that looks...truly looks at us, into us and strives to understand us, please us, serve us but mostly, to live with us, by us and be part of us. Hard to say who was luckier, you or Buster.

Thanks to you all for your comments and understanding. It is clear that many of us understand the depth of the relationship we develop with our dogs.
