Terrible! Horrible! I have much respect for animals, and having them as pet
is one thing but as toys… Even the "nails" are pink!!!

Once a friend ask me: "…and why do you take pictures of subjects you hate?"
I answered: "Because it exists, simply and horribly!"

Don't get me wrong Harmon, your shot is good. Its just the way the owner uses
his/her pet, your subject.

Kodiak -- this is one reason why some animals bite their owners. I agree with your assessment. True --- it is not the shot Harmon. The owner must be proud of whateverworkofart it did to the pet.

I am not sure why people think they need to do this to poodles -- it's such a disservice to a highly intelligent breed.

Poodles are beautiful dogs EXCEPT when the owners do this to them. Actually, IMO, the adult poodle "show clips" are not very much better, although more generally accepted. IMO (again) the poodle "puppy" show clip shows the dog to be a beautiful canine, not a clown...

The other disservice is when pet owners take the animals to crowded events. I was at an event this weekend and the dog owner was so engrossed in the performance; that he didn't notice that his dog was about to engage in a bit of dog fighting.

Apologies for going off on a tangent from your original post.

I live in an area of Southern California that becomes quite hot, especially during August and September with temperatures frequently ranging at times over 100 degrees F. (about 38-39 degrees C.).

The cement sidewalks and especially the blacktop streets become frying pans that can be brutal to large dogs feet and can generally "cook" lower profile dogs.

I wish:

1. That dog owners would be considerate of their animals and not subject them to such heat..
AND
2. That organizations which sponsor dog related events be aware of the expected temperatures in the venues and not schedule events, especially those on unshaded blacktop surfaces, during August through mid-October.

We have opted out of a dog event held in Escondido, California during this period because we will not subject our dogs to that type of heat...

At least there are only touches of pink on the dog. I remember being at Frankfurt Airport, in Germany, years ago when a woman walked by; all done up in pink; top to bottom, including her hair, carrying a matching all pink poodle. Poor dog.

A good shot, but as others have said I don't like it when owners do this to their dogs.
