American White Pelicans

Proving that some of the best opportunities occur literally a few miles from home, a flock of about 30 American White Pelicans has decided to rest up in a small pond the past few weeks. It would be nice if it were not located on a sharp curve in a county road with heavy traffic

This is really nothing more than a snap shot taken while working. I want to revisit this location in early morning when the light is better and traffic is lighter.



This is a fairly heavy crop, and edited quite a bit in Lightroom to eliminate noise. The background has developed a not unpleasant painterly feel that I rather fancy.

I value something like that if I can get it. Not bad for a snapshot. They were flying in a pretty arrangement with one another.

I seriously think a revisit to the place will be appropriate so you can plan your shot well.
