Two more lives saved...
Simone is a one year old Shih-Tsu - Maltese mix...
Stella is a three year old Maltese mix...
Both of these girls were scheduled to die yesterday at the Barstow, California Animal Shelter. I was able to rescue them from that fate. As with most dogs which we rescue from animal shelters, I dropped them off at our Vet at the Cypress Animal Hospital, Covina, California for quarantine to ensure that they are not carrying any diseases such as kennel cough.
The vet examines them (often finding problems missed or disregarded by the shelter vets) and will bathe them and keep them until she is sure that the rescued dogs are not carrying any contagious problems. Dr. Swindall of the Cypress Animal Hospital boards our rescue dogs free of charge. This is a wonderful service. Before we regularly quarantined the rescued shelter dogs, we sometimes had epidemics of kennel cough running through our foster dogs...
These are my entry photos of the dogs to provide a baseline of what they looked like when I rescued them. However, you are lucky that the Internet cannot transmit odors! I will post images of a cleaned-up Simone and Stella after we get them back from the vet...

Re: Two more lives saved...
Got an email from the vet... Simone has hook worms, giardia and is developing kennel cough. Stella has giardia and kennel cough. That's why it is beneficial to keep them at our vet until they are free of parasites and germs which could be transmitted to our other dogs. Right now, we have 14 dogs in the house. That could be a terrible time if they caught the parasites or diseases from Simone or Stella...

You've got a couple of more cute ones there, Richard. Hopefully their health gets squared away soon.
