If you need to ask - you can't afford it!

This is the Super Yacht "A" that we came across in Catagena, southern Spain. It must be a marine architect's dream to be given a commission that allows the pursuit of the unconventional. I have one on my Christmas list but no one seems to be listening.

If you need to ask - you can't afford it!

Wow. That is one crazy looking yacht. It has a decidedly military look to it.

I find ostentatious displays of wealth, selfish and vulgar to the extreme.

I wouldn't want another like that - the last one sank in my swimming pool!

    Yes that's what I thought too !

Nice shot John. This is mine, I anchor it off Portofino. It's not as futuristic as yours but it has more (radar ?) pods.

Used to have one of those but traded it in for one of these.

Are you sure it is a yacht, Andrew? It looks like a submarine to me, and I can't see any sails on it - or anywhere to hang them out.

Assuming you could, the question is...would you.

    Seriously...

This is the boat that my son-in-law is negotiating to purchase... It's a 46-foot Hatteras fishing boat...

If you need to ask - you can't afford it!

However, if one has to ask, one can't afford this boat either. The fuel economy is between one and two GALLONS per MILE depending on the speed at which the boat is running. In this case the term "fuel economy" is a total oxymoron...

It makes me think twice about my comment that when we go fishing, I will split the fuel costs with him!

    Re: Seriously...

It's good to have a smile. Some great comments.

Dan, I agree with you moreover the reason it caught my eye apart from the obvious, is that at one time I was involved in assessing small two man craft with a bow like that which because they cut through waves as opposed to riding them, were less detectable and therefore potentially had covert uses - sort of half way between a submarine and a surface craft. This is a bigger version. I also think that this yacht has featured in a Bond movie but I can't find any reference to it on the Web.

Dave, looks good. I take it that you are up for hosting the first CIC Glamour workshop. I guess the models are already aboard and waiting.

Wayland, I'm in two minds. Yours isn't quite as over indulgent as the others but hey, the runs ashore are way more fun.

Richard, being a father-in-law has some compensations then. Enjoy.

Gulfstream Issie?? I thought an MX or Staudacher S600F would have been more your style.

The boat is a bit bigger John.

Think I would prefer the Ozzy boat - looks like it has water level access for jet skies etc or maybe a midget submarine.
