A long way to the top

Some mountain shots taken in the past few days in South Wales (UK). C&C Welcome.

First two on a walk up Fan Foel in the Black Mountains.

This is Llyn Y Fan Fach, a small lake at the bottom of the escarpment.

A long way to the top

This is the view from near the top. Fan Foel is the third peak along. The water is Llyn Y Fan Fach.

A long way to the top

This was taken yesterday. It's about 20 miles further East, but the same chain of mountains. It's a 4 shot pano stitched in CS4. I used a Tokina 11-16 uwa lens.

Very interesting images. Is that a hiking trail, I noticed the figure in the third photograph?

Very nice, Rob. The first is my favorite: very tranquil, very clean.

I, too, find that the first induces a great sense of calm. You can 'taste' and 'smell' the clean air in it.

Having grown up in the Highlands of Scotland, I always think that hills and mountains are much better viewed from the bottom - none of that having to walk up them nonsense, unless you're gathering sheep - but that's another story that betrays my farming background!.

I like the second and third better because of the depth that they show. I think the second photo edges over the third because of the snow that looks overexposed in the third one. Very nice photos, all three.

To me #3 has a bit too bright forground and the photo is a bit tilted to the right. Though this is my favourite because of the depth, the colours and the two people on the left enjoying the scenic. (your photo makes me really want to be one of them)

LOL! Just behind me were 42 people - I counted them. Yes, it's a VERY popular hiking trail, even though this was at 3,000ft
