Not sure which version it started John but from version 6 they were certainly there.

John, I am presently trailing the latest version 12 from my regular ver 7 but fortunately have the Scott Kelby book on ver 6. Originally Posted by jcuknz

I am coming to the conclusion that only the newer ACR makes it worthwhile as they have ruined the Elements layout and the rest is without a single new feature I'm interested in.

Layers were present in Version 1 and presumably every version since then.
