    Some Cityscapes

Over the last few weeks I haven't had much time for photos due to work. I had an unexpected trip to Vancouver last night so I took advantage and took some cityscapes while I was there. These were taken before and after sunset. Don't normally do this type of image and for a first try I am fairly pleased with the results. In PP I did only minor adjustments, learning not to overdo things
Although I am pleased with the results I am open to any and all feedback, good and bad, so that I can learn to do this type of image better.

Nice shots Rita. I think the second one in particular has a lot of potential which could be achieved with some extra processing.

There is quite a lot of noise in the water and pathway area and noise reduction in pp would improve this.

Consider a 16:9 crop by removing some of the bottom of the image.

Increase the exposure by about half a stop and adjust the mid-point slider up a bit in the Levels adjustment.

    Apply some extra sharpening.

This should really make the image "pop" IMO. I can post an example of what I mean if you like.

Thank you David. Nice to see you back.

Dave, thank you for your comments. I have given it a try and posted my effort below. Is this what you meant? I have no problem with you posting an example

I think the compositions are ok, Rita. It's a pity the windscreen caught a reflection in the 3rd shot. You could reduce the 'hazy' affect of that in a curves layer by lowering the black point and then adjusting the mid-point to restore the colour / brightness.

Nice images, needs a bit of noise reduction in the second and a bit more contrast in the third.

Dave, I like the edit! I will play again with it this afternoon

Greg, I agree with you about the haze but I didn't know how to get rid of it. Thank you for the tip I will try that out.

Izzie, don't be sorry. I like his edit better than mine too. I am still really new to photoshop and haven't learned all the fixes yet.

John, thanks for the feedback. I will also try to do this.

I like them both but favor Rita's second version just a bit better.

Rita the main differences in my edit are Exposure, Noise Reduction and Sharpening. I used ACR for most of the adjustments as I prefer to use this rather than PS proper for these sorts of adjustments (even on a jpeg). To do this from a jpeg, open Bridge, right click on the file and select "Open in Camera Raw". My main adjustments in ACR were as follows

    Exposure (On Basic Panel) +0.5
Sharpening (On Detail Panel) Amount 70, radius 1, Detail 25%, Masking 0
Noise Reduction (On Detail Panel) Luminance Noise Reduction 85, Luminance Detail 50, Colour NR100, Colour Detail 50

As you can see, substantial NR was required. You can still see the noise in your edit.

    Hope this helps

Binnur & Matt, thank you for your comments.

Dave, thanks for taking the time to supply info on how you did your edit, much appreciated. Haven't been able to play with it yet today as I just got home from work. I will though
