Photo printing on metal. Anyone ever get this done?
During my recent trip to Alaska, I happened into a photo gallery. I noticed some indescribable clear and colorful panorama photos. I looked at them up close and could hardly make out individual pixels. I asked how the photo came out so clear and brilliantly colored. The person running the store said they were printed on metal sheets. That was the first time I've ever heard of that technique. Now, I've seen it offered in a few places around the web. Has anyone on this forum ever had their work printed using this method? I have a couple of pics from my trip that would be awesome to have done this way, BUT, I don't want to spend the $$ and be disappointed without looking into it further. Any experienced individuals out there?

I have had two large metal prints made by Bay Photo, which is the lab I use on the rare occasions that I don't print myself. They came out beautifully. For a fee, the will take whatever image you send them and print a small section using all 4 of their finishes so that you can compare them. I used the glossy finish. I will go back to them if I do any more metal prints.

To echo Dan and add this https://www.youtube.com/results?q=me...graphic+prints
It's not new and, from a cost basis, they aren't that much, as frames aren't needed.

To add a couple of things I forgot to mention: some of the finishes let the metal show through, while others don't. I picked one that doesn't. For an extra charge, they will round the edges, which seemed worth it to me. Also, you can get them with a mounting plate on the back, which holds the print slightly off the wall. They look stunning.

Thanks for all the info. I have several thousand photos but only consider 1 or 2 that would be worthy of such printing. I might have one done as a test run and then go from there. The last time I had "wall worthy" photos printed, matted and framed, the total cost was around $70 for an 11 x 14. This is the one I'm considering to print on metal.
