    Sea by night

    Hi all,
    I've been away from CiC and photograpy for a long while...
    I'm trying to throw away the rust from me and from my gears:
    in the picture below the contrast between the two light temperature catched my interest. I did my best without a tripod.
    Does it works? what's your suggestion?
    Any kind of C&C is welcome! expecially the most severe.
    Thank you
    Nicola

    Nicola,

    Image has some nice elements and some mysteries. I like the structure jutting out into the water but the structure is very small and almost eclipsed by the bright light to the left. The reflected light at the horizon was nicely captured. Did you flash?

    I really dig the two top thirds of your shot… but I can't explain the orange
    nor the white zones in it. What are they?

    No tripod is ok as long as it is not handheld!

    Does this count as "most severe?"

    Well you did well for a 30s exposure with no tripod Nicola and as John mentions capturing that light at the horizon is good.

    As for the cause of the foreground colour I look forward to the explanation.

    Re: Sea by night

    Thank you John, Kodiak and Grahame

    @John
    Yes, I agree about the structure protruding from left side, I tried to crop away the bright light but it made the structure too little. When on field, zooming in or turning the camera to the left, I'd have left the light on the orizon..

    @Kodiak and Grahame
    the two light colours (orange and white) come from two different light sources: the orange one from the lighting of the seaside walk, the withe one from the light towers of the hippodrome that is a few meters from the shore

    thanks

    Nicola

    Hello Nicola, the crop brigade has arrived, The shot works well for me with most of the orange lower third cropped out. The resulting letterbox format brings the stars into more prominence to fill that space on the RHS. I would also be worth cloning out that bright light if you have the means.
