Another long range Heron and something else?

Still too far away really. 71m

Another long range Heron and something else?

I also saw it fly away twice as I walked along a river. If only I arrived a little sooner.

Not at all sure what this is and too far away again. It isn't a decent shot either. 31m away.

The usual nicely positioned canada grease where about

There were some greylags about as well but they had no interest in being in the water.

Time to get in a boat and drift towards them. Goose shot very detailed in the tail area, head is a bit fuzzy.

Well spotted - the fuzz at the end of a brush must have run over it.

    I'll correct it tomorrow.

Goose shot pretty good as John spotted head fuzzy, the first two not sure what you shot with but really pushing what the camera lens combo can do.

No not fuzzy. There is a slight halo there plus the actual shape of the neck feathers. Here is a 250% view of the same shot.

Another long range Heron and something else?

I usually carefully check for that but this one is a little more interesting as bits of feather can clearly be seen sticking out and there is none really noticeable on top of the beak..If you look at the white patch on the head / neck meets body there ain't enough pixels at this size to show what's there / another less obvious halo.

Pretty Izzie - I was glad it posed like that for me and even more so that I managed to catch it.

It seems to be a great crested grebe. Too far away to get a decent shot of a bird of that size.

I'm more pleased with the heron this time. Better lighting I suspect.. It would be interesting to see a similar shots taken at 600mm according to the crop factor at similar distances and different sensor sizes.
