Lovely shot, with great colours. I think it looks a lot better cropping the right side, almost up to his head. Those colour scales in the centre look like your avatar!
thx for the reply
kinda like the dof this way
Those eyes send a shiver down my spine; it is an excellent photo.
I second Arith. Fantastic click, Vandenberg. Can you please post a bigger version? Would live to have a closer view of the eye.
PS:- Snakes scare S*** outta me.
Wow! - this is fantastic - I too, would like to see what is reflecting in his eye.
thx for the reply
don't know what it is, but it seems it is in or on the eye it self
anyway, large photo of the snake

Thanks for the large size.
Very good picture, these can be difficult to get.Originally Posted by vandenberg

Lighting was a mixture of daylight and red IR glow lamp
I did the best I could with WB at least it looks how I remember it - as a white an yellow snake!
I had to spend a while extracting this from a distinctly mediocre capture taken through glass with lens almost wide open. I shot more at 3200 iso, but this is the best composition I could find
I couldn't fit the whole snake in, it is huge, but I wanted to give an idea of its bulk by including quite a bit of its coiled body to the left. Still not sure if the composition works.
I have a shot of it yawning, but it seems to be without fangs, so it didn't look very menacing, more like a toothless pensioner (s/he does look quite old)
Cheers,

Wow. I never liked snakes, but these two shots looks great. Come on Dave, you cannot shy away from showing more of your shots. I am sure they must be pretty good. Would love to see the snake yawning.
Rather than hijack Vandenberg's thread even further, I'll start a separate "Dudley Zoo" thread, as I have a few other shots that are worth a look see. Probably not tonight though my son has just given me a list of 25 more climbing shots he'd like PP'd and posted that may take a few days with other stuff going on - e.g. CiC, job, CiC, eating, CiC, sleeping, CiC, driving lessons, CIC, photography, CiC, etc.
But hey, it's not all work, I went to the pub last night, had 3 beers and listened to live music. I just wish I'd taken the camera and a fast lens
Thanks for the last two lines. I had started feeling stressed, myself.
