Interesting. The basics haven't changed in well over a century but like others they don't seem to want to show the complete process. I saw something similar from Ziess and that was the same. This one shows batch type more expensive production.

And Canon provide more info including what they all do for larger numbers - hot pressing. They don't show lots of lenses being ground and polished in one go. Bigger stuff such as the lens they show isn't run of the mill.
