    Jumping right in:)

Teaching myself to upload an image and ask for C&C.

    Well, the first part worked

It is a conscious crop. The original has a picture perfect reflection of the whole mast. I chose to cut the mast, because I thought it took the focus away from the upper part of the image.

Your thoughts, and any other comments please. (I'm 67. Don't worry about upsetting me.)

    Right Tom, you're 67 and I won't worry…

My problem is that now that I could upset someone in full impunity… I can't!
cause the shot is too good! Darn, maybe you flop the next one and then, then…

Looks fine, Tom. A 4 x 5 ratio crop would be another option. But nothing wrong with this version.

I like the drama of the shot, Tom...at first it was hard to discern what it is, then after a while it dawned on me and saw the beauty of the composition. Well done.

P.S...I know many 67 and 68-ers who still get defensive when upset...

    Welcome to CiC Tom.

I like the simplicity of the image and the cropped mast does not concern me at all.

Now you have mastered uploading an image perhaps we can see the next one at a larger size, say 1200/1400 px width which gives us viewers a greater appreciation of the work

    OK, 1400 x 1050 from Scotland's west coast .
Morning fog lifting, Sun in back and presto, my first time with a halo and a camera at the same time.

    Jumping right in:)

Some may say, and do, that the the wake in forground distracts. I don't.

And a practical etiquette question: "Should I have started a new thread instead?"

I opt for the single thread when I have a cohesive collection of photographs.
I go for a new thread otherwise… but that's just me.

An other option is the year personal project thread where you ambition, for example,
to post a picture a week no matter what… that keeps you on the go!

Nice shot. I think the crop works fine.

    Thanks for all comments

I re-sized my last image as suggested, but I wonder -

I used the "save to web" in photoshop (yes I'm lazy) and therefore, the image cannot be "Expanded to actual size in the post (makes sense, because it has been shrunk). I will try to find out how to upload a larger image.
