    Tranquility

I checked out a lake today that I had never been too. It was beautiful and so peaceful. Took this pic of
    a couple enjoying their canoe.

What I do like about the image is the reflections of the mountain and the canoe. Hope a little of the
tranquility that was there shows through in the image.

Thought I would post for C&C, and yes, that includes the bad too

    Beautiful tranquil scene Rita.

What I like is that you have captured the reflected colour in the entire area of water. What I am not so keen on is that they are using a canoe of a colour that does not complement the scenery, but I doubt they considered that

    Thank you Grahame & David.

Grahame, I agree, how inconsiderate of them to be using the wrong colour of canoe I did try to change the colour of it but I am afraid my
PP skills aren't to that level yet.

Very applicable title for the thread. If you are change colours you may as well adjust the hue and saturation of their life jackets which will be less of a challenge than trying to convert the canoe and it's reflection to pacify Grahame's demands.. I think he should have a serious talk to the canoeists.

Great scene - wouldn't it be awful to have seen that scene and not have had your camera with you.

Lovely shot Rita. I like the "shimmer" in the water in what is indeed a tranquil scene.

I like the whole composition Rita despite the grumble of Grahame and the advice of LPaul...whacky sense of humour these men... Nothing tranquil about the place I am in here -- everyone (including hubby and his friends were all roaring their engines in the gulf a few days ago when they took their boats out outmaneuvering one another on whose boat will tip over next. Men and their machines...if that is a plane they would do aerobatics with them boats too like they do with their planes.

    Re: Tranquility

Well done, Rita! Your composition with regard to the texture in the water draws attention to the canoe much the same way as using a small depth of field draws attention to a subject; the water is still immediately in front of and behind the canoe and is textured in the immediate foreground and distant background.

One way to deal with the color of the canoe is to convert to black-and-white using a green filter. The canoe and people will stand out very nicely and complement the other tones in the scene.

    Re: Tranquility

Rita, I would suggest that the timing of the shot was impeccable regardless of the boat...
you found a calm, serene lake in a great light scenario.
Might be worth working the site another time.

Very nice shot of a lovely scene Rita, congrats I like Mike's suggestion about the boat and people very much because I'm open to interesting alternatives in photography. I tried it on my laptop and it looked lovely to me.If you don't like the B&W idea for the boat and people ,you might try turning down the saturation in blues selectively and reducing the saturation in reds, although it seems to me a more ordinary option than Mike's.

Thank you all for your comments.

    L. Paul, the thought of missing a scene like this is exactly why I carry my camera everywhere with me

Izzie, I love a sense of humor.

Mike, I appreciate your comments and suggestion for the canoe. I will try it out and post my attempt.

Chauncey, I do plan to go back to this site again. It is about 1 1/2 hour drive from where I live and if
I went another 30 klms passed this location there are 2 more lakes. This site was about 15 Kim's into the
bush. I was on my own yesterday and next time I go I think it would be more adviseable to go with
    someone else

    Re: Tranquility

So nice to have a free morning today. Taking the feedback on this image I have attempted to incorporate the suggestions into the following edits.
    What do you think?

    1. The Canoe and people in b&w
    Tranquility

    2. All b&w
    Tranquility

    3. Saturation turned down on the blue & red
    Tranquility

    4. This one was my attempt to change the colour of the canoe. Unfortunately it left a big mess on the rear of the canoe Any suggestions on how I could remedy this? I tried sponge tool, cloning, painting....oh my!

Yes, that would be a good piece of info to have I am using PS CC, or I should say that I am learning PS CC.
