Dan...I am mostly a handholding camera person than a tripod using one. The D800e is heavy for my handholding so it stays on the tripod when I am at home. At this stage I use it for my food photography. I thought BIF is too much to plan for using a tripod. If I had brought the camera with me, with the kind of weather we had over at Florida at the time, I would had came home with nothing. I can always go back to Florida whenever I want. It is the little bugs that I bites me crazy that prevents me from going there often. And of course, there is our Tucker issue...
Yes you can use your DX lenses on your D800E. If you have left it to factory defaults it will automatically drop into the DX crop when you attach a DX lens. You can override this and use the DX lens with full FX framing. However there will be pronounced vignetting and possibly other defects beyond the DX crop area. You can take photographs in FX mode with a DX lens with the intent to crop in PP to DX but if you get a wing or something slightly outside the DX area you maybe able to adjust the crop and correct/recover/rescue in PP.

Sounds like you need to go to a gym and do hours of boring weight training.....

Brilliant comment LPaul. We have a complete man gym down our basement with my own personal treadmill and bicycle...and according to my weight against height and to my age, I am good. I just checked. My problem is my wrist -- sometimes I need help opening a bottle of pizza sauce. I think it all boils down to when one gets old, it is a matter of health management. I am the health manager in this house. I don't drink any alcoholic drink and my life will be boring without my piano and my camera. So I am still good...
