    Tiger's Nest Monastery - Bhutan

This is a shot of the Tigers Nest Monastery as a hole opened in the clouds.

It is a very popular site; some 2km from the parking lot. Unfortunately, there is a 900m climb involved.

Such an iconic monastery! You must have been very excited to be able to see it. I don't ever remember seeing a photo of it in such moody weather. Very nice!

Wonderful capture Manfred, I have always wondered how they build places like this given the location!

VERY nice. You couldn't have asked for better "natural" framing. Perfect composition.

Absolutely beautiful, National Geographic quality! The clouds are a wonderful part of the image and really give a feeling of a mountainous area and center my attention on the monastery. Did you do the 900m climb?

Yes. Took us about 3 hours to go up, about an hour to visit and another couple of hours to get back down. Our legs are not happy. No cameras allowed inside the monastery itself.

That is stunning. Wonderful for that cloud break.

Looking again, does that rock face overhang the monastery?

When there's an excellent subject, excellent conditions, and an excellent photographer, magic can happen. This one is aching for a frame.

Even if you don't make another decent image during the rest of these couple of months, this one will have made all the jet-lag worthwhile.

On holiday and on a tablet but I just had to comment on this. It is one of those shots that stand out in a life time of photography. Enviable and superb.
